13th ANNUAL EVENT HIGHLIGHTS
The 2021 Ag Innovation Showcase, September 13-14, was presented by Larta Institute in partnership with the North Carolina Biotechnology Center. We sought to identify the concerns uncovered during the world’s year of crisis to describe the contours of recovery. We doubled down on the continued evolution of regeneration as an organizing principle for agriculture and food production. We described the arc of reimagining the changed and rapidly evolving landscape of agriculture and food.
The 2021 Showcase curated these and related issues, leading up to the UN Food Summit held in November 2021, and further marked and stimulated the agenda for future events.
Please follow our Deeper Dive podcast series, which presents some specific issues and concerns about innovation in agriculture.
Jack Bobo’s report examines some of the efforts aimed at addressing food insecurity, environmental demands of global food production, increases in obesity, identifies some limitations of these efforts, and highlights the need to emphasize the role of innovation in order to deliver a food system that benefits people and the planet. Michelle Egger, Co-Founder & CEO at BIOMILQ; 2021 Ag Innovation Showcase Speaker
"The future of food will come from a combination of bioreactors, fermenters, and fields together; come join us to learn more about how we revolutionize feeding our people and planet."
Karn Manhas, Founder & CEO, Board Member, Terramera; 2021 Ag Innovation Showcase Speaker
“How we produce our food matters. Today, we are eating our planet to death, and farm communities are suffering. But if we can break past our own false imprisonment of beliefs and conventional wisdom, we can realign our production with natural systems and increase farm profits and resilience. We still stand a fighting chance. We have a real opportunity to eat our planet back to health, but we need to take action now.”
