Dr. Anthony Michaels (Tony) is Chief Executive Officer of Midwestern BioAg (MBA), a company that, for 35 years, has been a pioneer in sustainable agriculture.  Its network of 4,500 farms use a systems approach to farming that results in higher yield, lower costs, increased farmer profits, improved environmental outcomes and more nutritious crops.  MBA works with over 1,800 organic farms.  It partners with large food companies and farmland investors to transition farms to high-profit organic as the base of vertically integrated supply chains.

Before joining the Midwestern BioAg team, Dr. Michaels conducted academic research in nutrient cycling, was co-creator of multiple technology companies, chief scientist at Pegasus Capital Advisors, president of ReCommunity Energy and CEO of PhycoSystems. Among his many board positions, Dr. Michaels is a Board member at the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Institute on Sustainability at Arizona State University, the National Council for Science and the Environment and the Catalina Island Conservancy.  Dr. Michaels was educated at the University of California, San Diego, the University of Arizona (BS, MS) and the University of California, Santa Cruz (Ph.D.).
